Don’t you love it when buttery shrimp melts in your mouth or when crab legs crack loudly? Add the sound of waves, a salty breeze, and a cold drink in hand, and there’s nothing more you could ask for. In Hilton Head, we do seafood right. Where can you turn every meal into a coastal celebration? Here are eight of our favorite restaurants on the island.
Skull Creek Boathouse
For jaw-dropping views and impressive menus, go to Skull Creek Boathouse at 397 Squire Pope Road. Crave sushi or something classic, and take in the scenery inside their glass-walled dining room. If the weather is fine (it usually is), head to the patio.
Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks
Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks at 1 Hudson Road has been tied to one of the island’s last local fishing fleets for over 50 years. Watch fishermen unload oysters, shrimp, and crabs straight off the boat while you dine. How’s that for “sea-to-table”?
Fishcamp on Broad Creek
Fishcamp on Broad Creek is in a restored fishing camp at 11 Simmons Road with roots in Hilton Head’s Gullah culture. Opened in 2016 by the Reilley and Simmons families, it promises togetherness with seafood, warm service, and calming waters.
Reserve your table online or dial (843) 842-2267 for a dinner with a story.
The Sea Shack
The Sea Shack at 6 Executive Park Road is a no-frills, family-owned spot. Friendly vibe, unbeatable prices, and dishes that delight every time? You bet!
American cook and TV personality Rachael Ray featured this place on her show, $40 per Day. Pro tip? Order the Oyster Po Boy because it has landed on plenty of “must-try” lists.
The Crazy Crab
You don’t want to miss The Crazy Crab‘s award-winning Alaskan snow crab legs. The Jarvis Creek location (104 William Hilton Parkway) has been satisfying visitors since 1984, and its Harbour Town branch (149 Lighthouse Road) started doing so, too, two years later.
The Old Oyster Factory
The Old Oyster Factory at 101 Marshland Road was voted one of the most scenic restaurants in the country. Nobody can get enough of its oysters and other seafood faves since 1989. The steaks and desserts are also worth saving room for!
Quarterdeck
Have a feast after seeing the iconic lighthouse at Quarterdeck at 160 Lighthouse Road and get 270-degree views of Harbour Town, Calibogue Sound, and the famous 18th hole at Harbour Town Golf Links! The menu highlights fresh local seafood and Southern specialties, plus a wine list.
Reservations are recommended, so make yours online or call (843) 842-1999.
Alexander’s Restaurant and Wine Bar
If you’re looking for something more upscale, it’s Alexander’s Restaurant and Wine Bar at 76 Queens Folly Road. The menu pays homage to Lowcountry classics and Alexander’s favorites (shrimp and grits and Wiener Schnitzel. Yum!).
You must reserve your table before swinging by. Call (866) 921-6639, and don’t forget to dress up.
