A game of beach volleyball brings the sun on your back, the sand between your toes, and friendly competition over a net strung between two poles on a wide-open area. The sport is everything you love, just with a bit of extra grit (literally).

Welcome to Coligny Beach Park, Hilton Head’s award-winning beach destination! The park is a full-on seaside experience, and you’ll find access at Coligny Circle, where North Forest Beach Drive, South Forest Beach Drive, and Pope Avenue meet.
“Are there outdoor showers, changing rooms, and restrooms?” Of course! You can also rent chairs and umbrellas or cool down under shaded gazebos. Coligny Plaza is nearby, with restaurants, snack bars, and boutique shops that offer everything.
Now, for the real reason you’re here: Coligny Beach has several beach volleyball courts, and on any sunny day, you’re likely to catch some pickup games or casual tournaments in full swing!
The Hilton Head Island Recreation Association oversees public play hours. It’s first come, first served unless someone rents the court (you can do so at least 14 days ahead of time).
Here are three rules to follow:
- No touching, hitting, pulling, or hanging on the net.
- Everyone is welcome, with a limit of six players per side.
- Have fun!

If you catch the beach volleyball bug, go meet the HHI Beach Volleyball Club. This local group runs programs and tournaments from November through June or July, inviting you to stay active, improve your game, and build new friendships.
HHI Beach Volleyball Club holds practices in front of the Tiki Hut at Coligny Beach (this bar is among the best in the country!). There’s always a coach to support and guide you, so don’t worry about your skill level.
